Hi, I'm Dave Weingarten, and I'm running for Councillor for Ward 9 in Barrie, Ontario.
First and foremost, if elected, I intend to listen to the residents of Ward 9. I will be accessible and transparent. I will act appropriately on the concerns of my fellow Ward 9 residents, and I will respond to your emails in a timely manner. Whatever your experience has been in the past, I want to provide that representation for our community going forward.
Secondly, I will advocate for financial austerity, spending our tax dollars more wisely, and do everything within my control to keep our property taxes as low as possible. That means voting "NO" on wasteful initiatives and unnecessary projects that cost millions and raise our property taxes. During a time when inflation has caused us all to tighten our belts, work harder, and sacrifice more, I believe that government should also be held to those same restraints, rather than spending our tax dollars freely and causing our property taxes to increase.
